Stretch Hummer Vehicle Wrap Boston Promotion

We got a call, with short notice, to wrap a 31′ hummer for Sparks, they were doing a promotion for the new Melrose Place show that is on the CW 56 on Tuesdays 9:00pm.  We went and templated the limo down in Northborough, Ma and sent it to Sparks and the next day they sent us the artwork.  We went to print and produced the wrap and installed it for a one week promotion that took place in Boston.   After the promotion we went back down to Northborough and removed the wrap!

Bus Wraps for Rock Band Promotion

June 19th, 2009
Bus Wrap For A Band

Bus Wrap For A Band

This bus wrap was done for an artist that was starting his tour out of Orlando.  The install took one day to complete utilizing two crews one per side.  The wrap was under a tight deadline and needed to be done so the band could get underway and make all the tour dates.  From initial contact to completion was 3 days.  The client made the tour dates.

Full Bus Wrap every square inch.

This bus was wrapped from roof to tires on all for sides leaving only unwrapped that which would inhibit the bus drivers view.  Much detail work goes into installing a bus wrap.  Vinyl is covering every piece and panel and trimmed to reveal vent holes to allow the engine to get proper ventilation.  Proper installation techniques are used to line up all graphics and to keep the graphic from distorting going over moldings and storage compartment doors.  When using a rented bus from a bus company proper installation techniques are critical to keep the paint on the bus from getting nicks from trimming of graphics during the fine detail finish work.  When trimming graphics around obstacles it takes an experienced crew and steady hands from causing paint damage.  As you can see from the size of the job of wrapping a bus experience is a must when choosing a wrap company.

Passenger Van Wrapped to Advertise.

Celebration Suites passenger Van Wrap

Celebration Suites passenger Van Wrap

Celebration Suites, owned by the Tabani Group, Inc out of Dallas, TX gave us a call inquiring about a wrap for their Ford passenger van and we were happy to help them with the project.  They sent us a small version of the artwork and we recreated it exactly as they provided and printed and produced the wrap.  The wrap will advertise the suites located 1.5 miles from Disney.  The suites floor plan are on the side of the van exactly as the client depicted as well as pertinentinfo for future guest to quickly get the understanding of what Celebration Suites has to offer guest staying in the Orlando Area. The passenger van has essentially become a moving billboard for the hotel as it picks up and drops off guests at the airport and local attractions.  Celebration Suites, located by Old Town, now can advertise in all the major Theme Parks and right at the arrivals in the Orlando Airport simply by driving and no need for a billboard alongside I-4 or the B-line…Drive the advertising where it’s needed!

Vehicle Wrap Pricing

May 30th, 2009

Wondering about vehicle wrap pricing?

There are many different vehicles that can be wrapped and the costs can vary from vehicle wrap to vehicle wrap.  Cost is usually determined based on a square foot price, but there are some factors that can change that.  Some of the factors that can change that are the complexity of the curves the vehicle may have, the fact that there are many obstacles that can slow down the install process  such as roof racks, and other vehicles have more detail work than others and all this can add to a square foot price.  But in general most vehicles fall under the square foot pricing guide.  An example of a vehicle that would fall under the square foot pricing would be a cargo van, it is a pretty straight forward wrap job.  An example of a vehicle that would not fall under the square foot price guide would be something like the VW Bug, all those complex curves make a wrap harder on the installer and depending on the design there may be some trial and error printing to get the graphics to line up better due to the stretching of the vinyl by the install.

Wrap pricing made easy.

Pricing out vehicle wraps is something that differs from design shop to shop and largely depends on the shops experience and work load.  A shop that is busy and has a great reputation generally has a  higher price than the shop that just opened doors and is taking in any work it can just to keep the doors open.  Just like any business price usually dictates the old saying “you get what you pay for”  and it holds true for the vehicle wrap business as well.  Most shops should be in the ball park of each others price when determining the company to wrap your vehicle price should not be your main purchasing point, experience and quality should.  Price should fall in to a third tier placement because as you will find most shops will be in the ball park of each other and the prices usually are only a few hundred apart.

Determine your vehicle wrap needs first.

Vehicle wrap pricing can be simplified if you determine your vehicle wrap needs before you begin price shopping.  Do you have a design already? Is it a design that is in a large format for vehicle wrapping? If you don’t have a design you will have to pay extra usually for the design work. Once you have your design you will have to know how long you want your wrap to last do you know how long you want the wrap to last? The materials used will determine the length of time the wrap will saty on your vehicle. Make sure when you are pricing out your wrap you price it apples to apples and that the companies quotes are using the same materials (the material used really does matter).  Once you determine the above things you can then start comparison shopping.

Easy Guide to Vehicle Wrap Prep

May 14th, 2009

Paint Condition:

Before you can wrap a vehicle you need to ensure the paint is in good condition as oxidation and other paint surface deterioration will make both installation and removal difficult.  The paint on the vehicle must be applied OEM specs.  Panel repair, priming and painting must be applied per OEM instuctions and be compatible in order to avoid paint delamination.  Curing of the vehicle paint must be at least 72hrs. A vehicle wrap installation prior to this 72hr period could result in delamination, bubbling and even pigment bleeding.

Cleaning Preparation:

As a cationary procedure testing the cleaning solvent on an inconspicuous area of the vehicles application surface to check for potential damage from solvent usage.

It is absolutley critical to properly clean and prepare the vehicle application areas prior to application of the vehicle wrap to ensure proper adhesion during the life of the wrap.  If the vehicle wrap surface is not thoroughly cleaned immediately prior to application, then the result most likely will be adhesion loss over time.

  • The vehicle should be washed prior to having the installer perform the install.
  • The installer will remove any remaining dirt, road tar, grease or contaminates.
  • For fiberglass all mold release agents should be removed if being applied for the first time.
  • If applying window perforated vinyl to windows of the vehicle clean using a single razor blade scraper and then spray with cleaning solution and then squeegee it dry using a soft rubber window squeegee and then wipe the edges using a lint-free paper towel.
  • After the thorough cleaning, the vehicles surface should be wiped with isopropyl alcohol and then dry wiped the surface using a clean, soft, lint-free cloth.

Temperature for Vehicle Wrap Installation:

High or low temperatures are not good for wrap installations.  A tmperature range of 55 deg. F and 100 deg. F produce the best results.  Lower temperatures reduce the initial adhesive bond and the flexibility of the film while higher temperatures can cause the adhesive to have a high tack and the film becomes soft and stretches and can to the point of over stretching and that can become a problem for installation.
